The Virtual Change Room. Leveraging the power of Microsoft Kinect, the Virtual Change Room is an interactive shopping experience using augmented reality elements.
challenge
Elevate Robina shopping centre in Queensland to join the ranks of Topshop in the UK and the iconic Macy’s in the USA by creating Australia’s first virtual change room.
The Virtual Change Room allows shoppers to choose between 200 of the Centre's latest looks
solution
Believed to be an Australian shopping centre first, the virtual change room was created using Mircosoft Kinect; developed by Microsoft for the video gaming industry, and applied to the fashion sphere.
Featuring two full-length virtual mirrors, shoppers can choose between 200 of the shopping centre’s latest looks, size up the ‘virtual’ garments on their body, receive information on stockists and prices, and print their shopping wish list at the wave of a hand.
The image recognition and motion tracking software also enables users to select a variety of fashion options in real-time, with the added practicality of filtering searches through retail stores, designs, trends and gender.
